The Ultimate Maze - Blix-A-Thon | Robotics Competition

Eligibility : Participants aged 8 and above only.

Objective

In the Ultimate Maze challenge, participants should come prepared with a designed maze where the marble finishes the track slowest.

Terms and Conditions:
Your entire maze should have a start point and an exit point. The maximum time to complete this competition is 10 minutes. Within these 10 minutes, the marble should exit from the exit point. If the above condition is not met, your maze will be disqualified.

Tips: You can add motors and conveyor belts to run the marble for the longest time. Use pillars of different heights to create levels in your conveyor system.

Things to remember

The model must be fully built before arriving at the venue.
On competition day, participants will have up to 1 hour to repair any damage or make minor modifications if the maze breaks.
To ensure smooth repairs, it is strongly recommended to bring photos and videos of the completed maze.
The maze must include at all the pieces given in the kit to qualify for the challenge.
More time = Winner.

Competition Format

Each participant will have two attempts, and the best time from the two rounds will be considered as the final score.
When the referee says “Start,” the participant must release the marble from the start position.
The timer will begin immediately and stop once the marble reaches the end of the maze.

Scoring

1 second = 1 point
Example: If the marble starts at 0 seconds and finishes at 28.7 seconds, the participant earns 28.7 points.

How to qualify

In the qualifying first round, the top 5 participants will advance to the tournament round.
From there, the top 3 will be determined.

Time Duration

The maximum time to complete this competition is 10 minutes. Within these 10 minutes, the marble should exit from the exit point.

Surprise Element

A special twist may be introduced for all participants on event day!

Rules & Regulations

Free Time Challenge – Each team can have up to 4 members (excluding mentors). Only one mentor is allowed per team.
Once the marble starts rolling, no team members may touch the marble or the model.
The referee’s decision will be final at all times.
Any interference with the opposing team will result in immediate disqualification.
The competition kit provided for the The Ultimate Maze must be used exclusively for the The Ultimate Maze Challenge. Mixing or combining parts from different kits may result in disqualification.
Only the components provided in the official kit are permitted for the competition. The use of any external parts may result in disqualification.

The information you provide in the Registration System is necessary for BLIX to properly identify a team, the people and the organization directly supporting the team, and to ensure that competition data is accurate for every team.

BLIX respects the privacy of all those involved in its programs and will protect the information given to it according to the Privacy Policy.

Team Registration

Each BLIX team must have one adult, registered in our system to serve as the Coach/Mentor for the season. Each contact must enter a unique, not shared, email account.

As many schools have internet firewalls that do not allow school email accounts to receive mail, we highly recommend using an account such as Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail to ensure timely receipt of all BLIX communications. The Coach/Mentor contacts are recognized by BLIX as the only person from the team authorized to manage the team information in the Registration System.

Checking the “I agree” button on your user profile indicates:

Participant(s) is/are above 5 years of age
You are registering in the proper age group.
You are aware that it is the responsibility of the Coach/Mentor to maintain the accuracy of the Team information. (For Junior and Senior age groups)

Chaperone Policy: Students must be in the company of their team coach(s) (For Junior and Senior age groups) at all times. Each team is required to have one registered Team Coach/Mentor. A Parent/Guardian/Mentor/Team Coach, must travel with the student.

Refund Policy: Registration fees are not refundable.

Sick Student Policy: If you suspect your student is unwell, please do not bring your student(s)/participant(s) to any offline events organised by Blix-A-Thon’24. Please do not put other students at risk or your own students’ well-being in jeopardy by bringing them to any Blix-A-Thon’24 events when they are unwell. If your student becomes sick during a Blix-A-Thon’24 hosted event, your Team Coach(s) will be required to remove the student from the venue and attend a medical service.

Behaviour Policy: Students/Participants may not hit, kick, bite, slap, fight, use inappropriate language, and/or display or share inappropriate material. If the student/participant is involved in those activities, they will be immediately dismissed from Blix-A-Thon’24. There are no refunds for students dismissed for inappropriate behaviour.

Participation is dependent on online mandatory form which will be emailed to you soon after registration. If you do not complete the form prior to the end date, Blix-A-Thon’24 cannot guarantee your submission of project as complete.

If any student/participant appears to be older than the maximum allowed group age for the competition, they may be asked to provide age proof.

Meals & Other Food/Drink will not be provided. For any offline events, the travel, stay and food costs will be borne by the participants.

Teams are responsible for any additional costs, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, personal insurance.
